KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan softball team received five National Letters of Intent during the early signing period, head coach Kathy Leitke announced on Thursday.

Mary Smithnosky, Lauren Porter, Jessica Reia, Taylor Wolfe and Jordan Kavanagh signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Brown & Gold during the 2022 season.

"We are excited to add 5 new players to Bronco Softball. I'm extremely pleased that each of these young ladies have stayed committed to their game and to WMU under challenging COVID-19 related circumstances," said Leitke. "Each of them bring talent and competitiveness on the field and have a strong emphasis on their academic career as well."

• Four year varsity starter and letter winner at Arrowhead High School
• 2019 All-Conference
• Helped Arrowhead HS win back-to-back D1 Regional Championships (2018, 2019)
• With ATS Academy Travel Softball, set club record for triples and batting average (.495)
• 2018 NSA championship game MVP and PGF Top Gun Invitational Prospect All-Tournament Player for ATS Academy Travel
• ATS Academy Travel 2019 Defensive Player of the Year

• Plays for the 18U Waterloo Ghosts Gold who are the defending State Champions
• Finished runner-up at the Ontario Summer Games
• Bishop Macdonell Senior Honor roll

 
Taylor Wolfe • OF • New Baltimore, Mich. • Anchor Bay High School
• Four year varsity student-athlete in two sports
• Posted a .500 batting average during the 2020 fall season
• 2019 Second Team All-District and Third Team All-County
• Helped Anchor Bay High School win the 2018 MAC District Championship
