Broncos Travel to Play Toledo Saturday Night

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In a pivotal Mid-American Conference West division showdown the Western Michigan men's basketball team squares off with Toledo inside John F. Savage Arena on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan heads into Saturday's contest with an overall record of 8-7 and is 1-1 in Mid-American Conference play. The Broncos are coming off an 84-69 loss at Akron on Tuesday despite shooting 52.2 percent from the field.

30 For 30 Presents: Michael Flowers
Junior guard Michael Flowers registered his second 30-point game of the season and third of his career with 30 points on 8-of-14 shooting at Akron on Tuesday. Flowers notched 30 points for the second time this season and knocked down five three-pointers against the Zips.

An Elite Scorer
Flowers has proven to be one of the best scorers in the conference, ranking second in the MAC at 17.8 points per game. The Southfield, Mich., native also ranks in the top 20 in field goal percentage (.451) and fourth in the MAC in three-point field goal percentage (.447).

The Wild, Wild, MAC West
Western Michigan is 11-5 under head coach Steve Hawkins in MAC West openers with the last three MAC West openers coming against Toledo. Overall WMU is 105-56 against MAC West opponents under Hawkins.

No Three's Please
WMU has solidified itself as one of the best at defending the long ball this season, holding opponents to a .320 three-point field goal percentage, the third best mark in the MAC.

Closing In On 500
Western Michigan men's basketball is just one win shy of clinching it's 500th Mid-American Conference victory. With a win, WMU can become just one of five schools in the MAC to eclipse the 500-win mark.

Freshman Finding His Footing
Freshman B. Artis White over the past five games ranks third on the team averaging 10.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. White also ranks second on the team during that span with 10 assists. For the season, White ranks third on the team at 8.1 points per game.

Scouting the Competition
Currently riding a five-game losing streak, Toledo has an overall record of 8-7 and 0-2 in conference play. The Rockets are coming off back-to-back road games to begin MAC play, falling to Ball State and Kent State.

The Rockets have four players averaging in double figures with guard Marreon Jackson leading the way at 17.5 points per game. Jackson is coming off a 32-point performance at Kent State on Tuesday and ranks third in the MAC in scoring.
