KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and the WMU Hall of Fame Committee enshrined six new members into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday evening at a ceremony in the Fetzer Center. The class includesÂ
Shawn Faulkner (football),Â
David Gennero (men's tennis),
 Frederika Girsang (women's tennis),Â
Bill Horn (hockey),Â
Shaylen Jackson (volleyball) andÂ
Jeff Zylstra (Men's Track & Field).
The Class of 2019 features two Mid-American Conference Players of the Year, two MAC individual champions, one All-America selection and four Michigan natives.
Â
The Western Michigan Athletics Hall of Fame, which held its inaugural ceremony in 1973, has grown to include nearly 200 former student-athletes, coaches and administrators, and for the first time in 2009 a pair of teams.
Â
All nominations are forwarded to the Hall of Fame selection committee for discussion and consideration. Once statistical and biographical information is verified, the balloting process begins. Induction requires a 75 percent majority vote by the selection committee. Nominations for the 2020 induction class will begin being accepted in April.
