Six WMU Programs Post Perfect Graduation Success Rates for 2015-18

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan's baseball, men's tennis, golf, gymnastics, women's soccer and women's tennis teams all posted perfect Graduation Success Rates (GSR) for the 2015-18 cohort.

The GSR is a metric that was developed by NCAA presidents that is mandated for student-athletes only. Graduations must occur within six years of initial entry to be included in the GSR. Student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible to compete are removed from the calculation.

"I am very proud of the dedication exhibited every day by our student-athletes toward the ultimate goal of graduation," said Lorne Robertson, senior associate athletic director for administration, academics and compliance. "The work that the student-athletes, athletic academic and compliance staff, coaches and all our University partners put forth to help the success and graduation of our Broncos is remarkable."

The men's basketball and men's soccer teams had GRS's above 85, while women's basketball, softball and volleyball all surpassed 90. Every one of WMU's athletic programs outperformed the Federal Graduation Rate for their sport. The overall GSR average for Western Michigan Athletics was 89, matching last year's. The overall GSR for all students is 57 percent.
