WMU Opens MAC Play at Home against EMU, CMU

KALAMAZOO, Mich.  –  After a successful non-conference season, Western Michigan volleyball opens up Mid-American Conference play at home this weekend, Sept. 27-28 against in-state rivals Eastern and Central Michigan.

WMU Football – WMU Volleyball Ticket Special
On Saturday, Sept. 28, those who purchased a ticket to WMU Football's Noon contest against Central Michigan can present their football ticket to get FREE admission to WMU Volleyball's match with the Chippewas at 5:00 p.m.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan enters the weekend with a 9-3 overall record, the best non-conference winning percentage since 2011. The Broncos are one of the premier offensive teams in the conference ranking second in the MAC in attack percentage (.255) and fourth in kills per set (13.10).

Reilly Nearing Milestone
Senior Kathleen Reilly is a mere 15 digs away from surpassing 2,000 career digs. Reilly can become just the third player in program history to eclipse the 2,000 dig mark.

In-State Success
Western Michigan has fared well against it's in-state rivals in recent history, registering a 20-8 record against CMU and EMU since 2012.

Looking for a Fast Start
WMU looks to open up MAC play 2-0 for the first time since 2017 and for just the fourth time since 2011.

Bontrager Joins the 1,000-Club
In a five-set victory over IUPUI last Friday, junior Rachel Bontrager earned her 1,000th career kill. Bontrager becomes the 24th member in program history to earn 1,000 kills.

Scouting the Opponent
Eastern Michigan (5-7, 0-0 MAC): The defending MAC Tournament Champions are off to a 5-7 start this season but have lost four of their last six matches. The Eagles are led by Franki Strefling and Cassie Haut who each rank in the top five in the MAC in kills per set.

Central Michigan (10-2, 0-0 MAC): Prior to heading to Kalamazoo, CMU will hit the road and square off with Northern Illinois on Friday, Sept. 27. The Chippewas are currently riding a five-match win streak and have lost just three sets in its past five matches.

On the Horizon
After its home weekend, Western Michigan will hit the road for the first time during MAC play, traveling to Toledo on Friday, Oct. 4 before challenging Ball State on Saturday, Oct. 5. WMU is back at home on Thursday, Oct. 10 against Northern Illinois.
