KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team will open its 2019 fall competitive schedule this weekend at the Bradley Invitational in Peoria, Ill., and the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., with both tournaments taking place from Friday, September 20 through Sunday, September 22.
The Bradley Invitational will consist of four singles flights and two doubles flights, featuring student-athletes from WMU, Bradley, SIU Edwardsville, Illinois State and St. Louis. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Rogosch, sophomore
Elizabeth Trupp and junior
Jeryn Jack will be representing the Broncos in Peoria, while the rest of the team will be competing at the University of Michigan.
At the Wolverine Invitational, Western Michigan will take on Michigan State on Friday, Michigan on Saturday and Charlotte on Sunday in singles play. In doubles, the Broncos will play Michigan on Friday, Arizona State on Saturday and Yale on Sunday.
"We are looking forward to competing this weekend against someone other than ourselves," said head coach
Ryan Tomlinson. "The fall season is a great way to play a lot of matches and work on things. Both tournaments will definitely challenge us and we look forward to getting better with each day."
Western Michigan is returning three players who saw Mid-American Conference action last season in sophomore
Femke Tjon-A-Joe, sophomore
Kristina Tiraspolsky and senior
Gabriela Slavova. Tjon-A-Joe went 17-13 overall in singles and 23-9 in doubles as a freshman for the Broncos.
