Hockey Picked to Finish Third in NCHC Preseason Media Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Western Michigan hockey team was picked to finish in third place in the annual National Collegiate Hockey Conference Preseason Media Poll released by the NCHC on Wednesday afternoon.
A total of 28 ballots were submitted by local media members from each school, as well as select national media. Points were awarded on a descending scale with a first-place vote worth eight points, a second-place vote worth seven points and so on.  
 
The Broncos received 156 total points, including three first place votes. Minnesoda-Duluth was picked to win the regular season title with 218 points, while Denver was 22 points ahead of WMU. North Dakota was picked to finish fourth, receiving 143 points.
 
Western Michigan's Hugh McGing and head coach Andy Murray head to the Xcel Energy Center on Thursday for the annual NCHC Media Day.  McGing will be taking over the NCHC's twitter account, @TheNCHC, from 10:30-10:45 a.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to ask questions at any time before Thursday's event by using #NCHCAskHugh. Coach Murray will join McGing for a live Facebook session at www.facebook.com/thenchc at 3:10 p.m. The duo will be interviewed by St. Cloud State women's hockey senior defender and mass communications major Rachel Herzog. Fans can also ask questions during the live session in the comment section.  The interview will also be archived on the NCHC's Facebook page.
