KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team will continue non-conference play Saturday when it welcomes Cincinnati to the WMU Soccer Complex, with the match scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.Â
Cincinnati Series History
The Broncos and Bearcats will play for the eighth time on Saturday, with Western Michigan leading the all-time series 4-3. The Broncos have defeated Cincinnati three straight times, including a 3-1 road victory last season.Â
Scouting the Bearcats
Cincinnati will be looking for its second win of the year after starting the 2019 campaign with a 1-3 record. The Bearcats' lone victory of this season came on September 2 against Albany at Gettler Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati was picked to finish eighth in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) preseason poll.
Senior forward Rex Epps led the Bearcats in scoring last season, collecting three goals and two assists. Freshman midfielder Kyle Healy was named the AAC Rookie of the Week on Monday after scoring the only goal for Cincinnati in a contest against nationally ranked Xavier. Junior goalkeeper Noah Lawrence has started all four games for the Bearcats between the pipes in 2019.Â

Bowie Earns MAC Player of the Week Honors
Senior forward
Anthony Bowie was named the MAC Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday after recording three goals and two assists for the Broncos in their last three matches. This is the second time he has earned this honor and the first time a Bronco has been named the MAC Player of the Week in two years (
Brandon Bye on 10/24/2017).Â
Broncos Showing Early Offensive StrengthÂ
The Broncos have scored nine goals in their first four games of the 2019 season and currently lead all MAC teams with an average of 2.25 goals per game. Four different players scored for Western Michigan in a 4-0 road victory against Green Bay on Sunday, including senior captain
Giuseppe Vitale, who earned the first goal of his collegiate career.Â
