CLEVELAND, Ohio - Western Michigan senior forward
Anthony Bowie has earned a share of the Mid-American Conference men's soccer Player of the Week award, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Bowling Green junior defender Achille Robin was the other Player of the Week honoree.
Bowie was outstanding last week for the Broncos, collecting three goals and two assists in three matches played for Western Michigan. His eight points on the season currently places him atop the scoring race in the MAC.
Against Niagara on September 2, Bowie generated five shots on goal, putting two of those opportunities into the back of the net to help the Broncos earn a 4-0 victory. He scored one more goal on Sunday at Green Bay in another 4-0 shutout for Western Michigan. Bowie added an assist to his resume in that contest, helping graduate midfielder
Sam Biek open the scoring on the afternoon.
This is the first time a Bronco has earned this accolade in two years, as
Brandon Bye was also named Co-Player of the Week back on October 24, 2017.
Western Michigan will continue non-conference play on Saturday when it welcomes Cincinnati to the WMU Soccer Complex at 12 p.m.
