Broncos Enjoy Success During Summer Ball

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Several Western Michigan baseball players enjoyed success around the country as the summer collegiate baseball season came to an end.  

CAPE COD LEAGUE
Falmouth Commodores
Blake Dunn - .227 BA • 2 HR • 19 RBI • 17 runs scored • 14 stolen bases • .338 OBP
  • During Cape Cod Pro Day at Fenway Park, launched a home run over the Green Monster and ran a 6.31 60-yard dash.
  • Ranked third in the Cape Cod League in stolen bases
  • Commodores won the regular season title and was named best Summer Baseball team by Baseball America
  • Ranked sixth on the Commodores in batting average
GREAT LAKES SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUE
Muskegon Clippers
Brady Miller – 4-1 • 1.30 ERA • 37.2 innings pitched • 38 strikeouts
  • Was named a Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League All-Star
  • Went at least six innings in four of his six games started
  • In his first appearance, struck out eight batters in four innings of work.
  • Recorded a victory on July 13, going seven innings allowing no runs on two hits with seven strikeouts.
Jimmy Allen – 297 BA • 4 HR • 27 RBI • 35 runs scored • 9 stolen bases • 5 doubles
  • Tied for fifth in the league in home runs
  • Recorded a hit in six of the final 10 games
  • Led the Clippers with 27 RBIs and four home runs
Dane Armbrustmacher – 2-3 • 4.27 ERA • 12 appearances, 3 starts • 36.0 IP • 46 strikeouts
  • Recorded at least four strikeouts in seven of his 12 appearances
  • Ranked fourth on the team in innings pitched
  • Led the Clippers with 46 strikeouts and ranked seventh in the league

  • Registered a hit in eight of the final 10 games
  • Ranked sixth on the Monarchs in total hits
  • Posted a .478 on-base percentage and a .392 slugging percentage
Drew Szczepaniak – 2-2 • 5.53 ERA • 8 appearances, 5 starts • 30.1 IP • 34 strikeouts
  • In last start Szczepaniak went seven innings, allowing three runs on three hits with 10 strikeouts
  • Ranked fourth on the team in strikeouts
  • Recorded over five strikeouts in an appearances three times

  • Earned a victory in his final three starts
  • During final three starts, threw 22.0 innings, allowing just five earned runs while striking out 17
