WMU Closes Out Road Schedule at Miami

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan baseball closes out its road schedule this weekend with a Mid-American Conference three-game series at Miami, May 10-12.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan heads into the weekend with an overall record of 16-27 and 9-10 in conference play. Last weekend the Broncos swept Eastern Michigan at home, marking the first sweep over EMU in 13 years. As a team, WMU is averaging 6.2 runs per game and ranks 60th in the NCAA with a .287 batting average.

Getting It Dunn
Sophomore Blake Dunn has done it all at the plate for the Broncos this season, leading the team in:
• Batting Average (.399)
• Runs Scored (39)
• Home Runs (5)
• Slugging Percentage (.554)
• On-Base Percentage (.485)

Dunn in the National Rankings
At the plate, Blake Dunn ranks 21st in the NCAA with a .399 batting average. On the base paths, the Saugatuck, Mich., native ranks 19th in the nation with 27 stolen bases.

Playing Well in Oxford
Western Michigan leads the all-time series over the RedHawks, 94-70 and have won six of the last ten meetings. The Broncos haven't lost a series at Miami since 2014.

Mullen Them Over
Redshirt junior RHP Will Mullen ranks 37th in the nation with 25 appearances this season and ranks ninth in the MAC with a 3.60 ERA. Mullen has allowed just 18 earned runs this season, the second fewest in the conference.

Plenty of Runs
In the second and third innings this season the Broncos have outscored its opponents, 72-44.  

Heading Down the Stretch
With six regular season games remaining, WMU is seventh in the MAC standings with the top six earning a bid to the conference tournament. Following the weekend series with Miami, WMU returns home for its regular season finale against Ohio.

Freshman On the Mound
Freshman RHP Brady Miller has been stellar on the mound for the Brown & Gold, posting a 3-2 record with a 3.80 ERA in eight games started. In 13 appearances, Miller ranks second on the team with 42 strikeouts.

Scouting the Competition
Miami heads into the weekend with an overall record of 34-13, 13-7 in conference play and are 17-5 at home this season. Last weekend the RedHawks split with Ohio after game three of the series was canceled due to weather. In midweek action, Miami defeated Cincinnati 7-6 in 10 innings.

The RedHawks have seven players hitting over .300 this season with Cristian Tejada leading the way with a .348 batting average. As a team, Miami ranks first in the MAC in both batting average (.305) and earned run average (3.94).
