ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Western Michigan track and field team wrapped up its final regular season meet, competing in the Len Paddock Open on Friday at the University of Michigan.
Junior Erica Sheahan had an outdoor personal-best performance in the long jump to open the day. Sheahan reached a distance of 19' 7" (5.97m) to take second overall. The distance was also an automatic qualifier for the upcoming Mid-American Conference Championships and moved her conference ranking to fourth.
Fellow junior Erin Dowd heads into the MAC Championship with a lot of momentum after finishing in second in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles. Dowd ran a season-best time of 24.40 seconds, which would have been a new personal-best if not for a wind rating of 2.9. IN the 100 hurdles she ran her second-fastest time of the season at 14.34 seconds.
Freshman Madison Ochs had a new personal-best in the discus. Ochs threw 150' (45.71m) to take third overall. The event was full of strong performances for the Broncos with Riley Wilhelm finishing in fourth with a distance of 143' 8" (43.87m) and Aniya Davis in sixth at 143' 2" (43.63m). The Broncos went second and third in the triple jump, led by sophomore Tiere Richardson. Richardson jumped 35' 10" (10.92m) to take second and was followed by Taylor Fendor at 31' 3" (9.52m).
