CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced its postseason baseball awards on Tuesday with a trio of Western Michigan baseball players earning all-conference honors. Sophomore
Blake Dunn was named First Team All-MAC while junior
Drew Devine and freshman
Brady Miller earned Second Team All-MAC.
It's the third year in a row Western Michigan has had three all-conference members. The Broncos have also had one First Team All-MAC selection each of the past four years.
Blake Dunn finished the season leading the Bronco offense in batting average (.374), runs (43), hits (71), triples (2), slugging percentage (.521), on-base percentage (.467) and stolen bases (30) en route to being named the unanimous team MVP. The Saugatuck, Mich., native ranked in the top 10 in the MAC in six statistical categories while his 30 stolen bases is the seconds most in a single-season in school history.
Dunn's .374 batting average to conclude 2019 is the highest by a Bronco since Chris Lewis in 2008. The Saugatuck, Mich. posted a team-high 24 multi-hit games this season along with eight multi-RBI games.
Drew Devine earned Second Team All-MAC honors after ranking second on the team with a 31 RBIs and a .359 batting average. The junior infielder led the Broncos with 15 doubles in 2019, tied for the seventh most in a single-season in school history.
The Marshall, Mich., product ended the season with a 10-game hitting streak along with reaching base safely in the final 11 games. Devine registered 18 multi-hit games in 2019 along with seven multi-RBI games.
Fresh off being named MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday, freshman RHP
Brady Miller earned Second Team All-MAC honors. Miller finished his freshman campaign with a 5-2 record and 3.10 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 10 games started. Miller's 3.10 ERA is the lowest by a Bronco pitcher since
Keegan Akin back in 2016.
The Plainfield, Ill., native ranked second in the MAC in victories among freshman and led all freshman in the MAC with a conference record of 5-1. In his final three starts of 2019, Miller posted a 3-0 record with a 1.19 ERA including his first career complete game on Saturday vs. Ohio.
