CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced its 2018-19 Women's Basketball Academic All-MAC teams on Monday, April 8. A total of 52 student-athletes were named to the squad, with
Logan McCane,
Meredith Miller, and
Kamrin Reed representing Western Michigan.Â
Logan McCane earns her second career Academic All-MAC nod with a 3.85 GPA as a Interdisciplinary Health Services major. She was awarded the WMU Coaches' Award at the annual team banquet. Appearing in 21 games in 2018-19, making one start during senior day, her senior season was headlined by a career-performance versus Akron (Jan. 9) in which she played in a career-high 33 minutes, accumulating career-highs with 11 points while shooting 4-of-7 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
A now three-time Academic All-MAC honoree,
Meredith Miller will graduate with a degree in Sales & Business Marketing from WMU with a cumulative 3.92 GPA. Miller earned the Broncos' 'P4 Award' (Passion, Pride, Purpose, Perseverance) and was just one of two Broncos to start in all 30 games during her final season in Brown & Gold. She led the team with 56 made three-pointers, which tied 2003 MAC Player of the Year Casey Rost for 13th most in a single season at WMU. Miller established several career-high numbers during her final year in Brown & Gold, highlighted by a career-high 21 point game with a career-best seven three-point field goals made at Ball State (Jan. 26), which ranked tied for third most in a game in WMU history while becoming the eighth Bronco all-time to tally at least seven three-pointers in a game. She averaged 31.1 minutes per contest, ranking second on the team with 934 total minutes.Â
WMU's Most Improved Player award recipient,
Kamrin Reed started in 29 of 30 games played during her junior campaign, leading the Broncos with a total of 951 minutes played, which more than tripled her time on the court during her freshman and sophomore seasons combined. A sport management major with a 3.52 GPA, Reed receives her second Academic All-MAC accolade while collecting career-high numbers in every statistical category, leading WMU during conference play with an efficient 47.9 field goal percentage and 81.3 free throw percentage in 18 MAC contests. Kamrin played in all 40 minutes in three games and scored a career-high 20 points at Kent State (Feb. 6) with a career-high four three-point field goals.Â
