CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference released the 2018-19 women's basketball postseason awards Tuesday, March 12, with senior point guard Deja Wimby representing Western Michigan on the Honorable Mention and All-Defensive teams, as voted by the league's 12 head coaches.

The honor stands as the first honorable mention accolade and the second career all-defensive honor for Wimby, also a member of the 2017 All-Defensive Team. Wimby led the Broncos in 2018-19 with 14.2 points per game, 118 assists (7th/MAC), and 71 steals (4th/MAC). 

During conference play, Wimby ranked 13th in the MAC with 14.4 points per game, 5th with 4.4 assists, and sixth with 2.3 steals per contest. Wimby twice scored a season-high 24 points along with four double-doubles. She recorded a career-high 13 rebounds at Florida Atlantic (Dec. 16) and notched a career-high 11 assists versus Ball State (March 2). Wimby registered at least one steal in 26 games played, including a season-high five on four occasions. 

At Ohio (Feb. 16), Wimby tallied eight points to become the 27th Bronco all-time to reach the 1,000 career point mark. She also became the seventh Bronco in program history to have surpassed 1,000 points, 400 assists, and 200 steals in a career and is just the second to rank among the top 20 scorers while ranking in the top five in both assists and steals. In 113 career games in Brown & Gold, Wimby totaled 1,145 points to rank 18th all-time at WMU along with ranking fifth each with 488 assists, and 236 steals.
