Western Michigan Football Adds Three to Recruiting Class

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan football and head coach Tim Lester have announced three additions to this year's recruiting class. Joining the Bronco program is defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, quarterback Eric Wenzel and defensive lineman Joe Misak.

The three players bring Western Michigan's recruiting class count for this season to 23. The Broncos had 20 student-athletes sign in December.

Set Godwin Heights career records for tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks ... as a senior had 110 tackles, 15 TFL and eight sacks ... as a tight end, also had 20 catches for 330 yards and five touchdowns ... recorded 80 tackles, 19 TFL and 15 sacks as a junior ... had double-digit tackles in each of the first five games of senior season, including a game with three sacks ... first-team all-state as a senior, honorable mention all-state as a junior ... two-time all-conference, all-area and dream team selection .. team captain ... honor roll member ... was a regional champion in track in the 400m run and all-conference as a high jumper ... also played basketball ... son of Shawn and Wendy Kneeland ... has three siblings, AJ, Shawn Micheal and Yahmya ... born on July 8, 2001.

Attended Hackett Catholic Prep High School and was quarterback for Kalamazoo United ... was the 2018 Division 5-6 Associated Press Player of the Year, Michigan High School Player of the Year Runner-Up and named first team all-state by the AP and the MHSFCA ... was the 2017 & 2018 Kalamazoo Gazette Player of the Year ... as a senior, set a state record with 56 touchdown passes, completed 319 of 332 passes for 3,624 yards and finished career second in MHSAA history with 110 touchdown passes and 8,654 yards ... the United offense averaged 50 points per game in 2018, team finished with an 11-1 record, which included the program's first district title and first undefeated regular season ... threw seven touchdowns in three games in senior season ... was a state champion and a two-time regional champion in track as member of relay sprint teams ... also played baseball, earning all-conference honors, and basketball ... son of Andrew and Tamela Wenzel ... has two older siblings, Maggie and Evan ... born on Oct. 19, 2000.

As a senior had 78 tackles, 15 TFL, eight sacks and one interception ... was an all-state honorable mention, first team all-conference selection at linebacker, Kalamazoo Gazette First Team Defensive Dream Team, first team academic all-state and team captain ... was a first team all-conference selection as an offensive lineman as a junior ... also played baseball and basketball ... academic honor roll member ... son of Frank and Shelly Misak ... father played football at Central Michigan (1990) ... has three siblings, Kyle, Morgan and Sydney ... born on August 28, 2000.
