KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team spends its fourth-straight week ranked in the nation's top 10, coming in at eighth in the US College Hockey Online ninth in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls.
The Broncos moved up one spot in the USCHO.com poll from last week and remained the same in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine pol. WMU is also sitting in ninth place in the Pairwise Rankings, a metric used for at-large bids for the NCAA Tournament.
Western Michigan split with North Dakota over the weekend. The Broncos dropped Friday's game 5-1 before rebounding on Saturday with a 4-2 victory. With the split, WMU maintained its spot in third place in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference standings. The Broncos hold a four-point lead over Denver and a seven-point lead over the Fighting Hawks. WMU trails Minnesota-Duluth by just two points and NCHC leaders St. Cloud State by 12.
Western Michigan heads to Colorado College this weekend for a pair of games. WMU and CC play on Friday at 9:37 p.m. and then again on Saturday at 6:37 p.m. Both games can be seen live on NCHC.tv and heard live on the Bronco Radio Network.
