KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team defeated Wright State University 5-2 Sunday morning at West Hills Athletic Club. With the win, the Broncos improve to 6-1 on their home court. 

WMU dropped the doubles point as the Raiders picked up wins on courts one and two. The Brown & Gold responded in singles play taking five of six singles matches from Wright state to pull away with the victory. 

Up 3-1 after a win at the No. 1 spot from senior co-captain Melina Lyubomirova, the Broncos clinched the match at court six with a 6-2, 7-5 victory from Gabriela Slavova. 

"We got off to a shaky start in doubles, credit to Wright State for that start," said head coach Ryan Tomlinson. "We responded strongly with winning six first sets in singles. I'm proud of the fight the girls showed in singles. We have to get back to work in doubles. Overall it was a successful weekend as we keep trying to gain momentum heading into league play."
