Women's Cross Country | December 05, 2019
CLEVELAND – Eight members of the 2019 Western Michigan Cross Country team have earned Academic All-Mid-American Conference Honors as released by the MAC office on Thursday morning.
Senior Brittney Hall (4.0, Interdisciplinary Health Services), junior Rebecca McNamee (3.79, Social Work), sophomore Kaylin Mince (3.66, Elementary Education), junior Charlotte Ramser (3.75, Nursing), senior Haley Ritsema (3.91, Dietetics), sophomore Paisley Sipes (3.29, Art), senior Juliane Sormain (3.22, Economics) and senior Olivia VandePol (3.46, Environment & Sustainability Studies) all earned the honors this season. Hall was one of just 12 women to boast a perfect 4.0 GPA. WMU's eight selections tied for second-most in the conference.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
Hall, Ritsema, Sormain and VandePol are all repeat honors from last season, with Hall and Ritsema earning it for the third time in their careers. Hall paced the Broncos in every race she ran in this season, including finishing just one spot shy of earning All-MAC honors at the MAC Championship. Mince, Ramser, and Sipes all earned the honors for the first time.
