Scouting the Broncos
It's the final two home matches of the regular season for Western Michigan who sits with an overall record of 13-11 and 4-8 in conference play. The Broncos split last weekend against a pair of in-state rivals, falling in four sets at CMU before defeating EMU in four.
WMU in the National Rankings
In the national rankings, Western Michigan ranks 35
th in the nation in total assists (1,165) and 37
th in the NCAA in total kills (1,255).
Keeping the Streak Alive
Heading into the weekend, junior outside hitter
Rachel Bontrager has registered double-digit kills in a career-high 15 straight matches. Bontrager during the streak has had two matches with over 20 kills including 24 against Kent State on Oct. 26.
Reilly Ready to Move Up the Record Book
Senior
Kathleen Reilly looks to move up the WMU record book this weekend as the senior libero is just 15 digs away from cracking the top 10 for most in a single-season. Reilly with 516 total digs this season ranks ninth in the NCAA.
Rose is Blooming
Freshman setter
Rose Duffy has been stellar for the Broncos this season, posting a team-high nine double-doubles. Duffy has also recorded six straight matches with over 40 assists.
Scouting the Competition
Ball State (13-11, 7-5 MAC): The defending MAC West champions head into Friday's contest with a two-match win streak after defeating Toledo and Buffalo in five-set matches at home last weekend. Earlier this season the Cardinals defeated WMU in three sets.
Toledo (7-17, 0-12 MAC): The Rockets head into the weekend having lost 12 straight matches while still seeking their first MAC victory of the season. Prior to its trip to Kalamazoo, Toledo will square off with Northern Illinois on Friday, Nov. 8. Western Michigan swept Toledo on the road on Oct. 4.
