MADISON, Wis. – The Western Michigan cross country team looks to finish its season strong at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship on Friday at the University of Wisconsin's Zimmer Championship Cross Country course.
WMU is one of 33 teams that will compete in the region, joining Mid-American Conference foes Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami, Ohio and Toledo. The Broncos will run a lineup of junior Courtney Allen, senior Brittney Hall, freshman Annalise James, junior Rebecca McName, freshman Ashley Shipps, sophomore Paisley Sipes and senior Juliane Sormain.
Last season the Broncos finished in 14th. Sormain is the top returning finisher, with the French national taking 62nd after a time of 21:55. Sipes was WMU's fourth finisher, with Hall and Allen also running in the meet.
Hall has blossomed into one of the top runners in the MAC during her final season, finishing just one position short of garnering All-MAC honors at the MAC Championship back on Nov. 2. The Macomb, Mich., native has paced the Broncos in each of the five meets she has competed in this season and is looking to make it six.
The Zimmer Championship Cross Country course was the site for the 2018 NCAA Championships and the women's 6k race will begin at 12:30 p.m. ET.
