Janell Williams has been named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week.
Williams in matches over the weekend against Ball State and Toledo registered 19 total blocks, averaging a staggering 2.11 per set. Williams had seven solo blocks in two matches to go along with 12 block assists.
The Ann Arbor, Mich., was dominant at the net against the Rockets on Saturday, posting a career-high 12 blocks. Williams' notched nine block assists versus Toledo, tied for the fifth most in a five-set match in school history.
This season, Williams ranks second in the MAC with 1.19 blocks per set and total blocks (105). The redshirt sophomore has earned at least four blocks in 14 matches this season and has collected at least seven blocks in the last three matches. Â Williams'
