Women's Soccer Falls to Bowling Green, 1-0

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team fell to Mid-American Conference leaders Bowling Green, 1-0, at the WMU Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The lone goal came in the 36th minute by Kennedy White. White crossed the ball from the right side of the box but the ball drifted on frame and bounced off the left post and in. Junior goalkeeper Maggie Rogers made four saves on the day.

The Broncos (7-9-1, 5-4-1 MAC) limited most of Bowling Green's 16 shots from the fringes of the box or outside. WMU landed three shots on goal, with Bailey Korhorn, Hannah Kahn and Grace Labadie each getting one. Korhorn had WMU's best chance early in the 14th minute. She had the ball at the top of the box and fired a shot into the upper right corner but it was parried away by BGSU goalkeeper Kathleen Duwve.

They are a very good team. I thought we did a phenomenal job from the goalkeeper all the way up front being able to communicate and pick up their runs," said head coach Sammy Boateng. "For us, we created plenty of good chances but being able to finish consistently is now a question we have to start asking."

Western Michigan closes out the regular season on Thursday at 3 p.m. with a road game at Northern Illinois. WMU remains tied for third place in the MAC standings thanks to losses by Buffalo and Ohio. The Broncos need to finish in the top four in order to host a first round game of the MAC Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 3.
