COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan junior Luke Bafia has been named Bauer National Collegiate Hockey Conference Defenseman of the Week after his performance at the 2019 Ice Vegas Invitational over the weekend.
Bafia, who receives the weekly honors for the first time in his career, earned All-Tournament Team honors after netting two goals and finishing the weekend +4. In the 5-1 win over UConn to open the tournament he put the Broncos up 4-1 with his first goal of the season and finished the night +3. In the title game he gave WMU a 1-0 lead late in the first period with his second goal of the season. Bafia blocked two shots in each game, while helping Western Michigan hold UConn and Air Force to a combined two goals.
Baifa joins Colt Conrad, Josh Passolt, Cam Lee and Trevor Gorsuch in winning NCHC weekly honors this season.
