BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team concluded its first weekend of fall play at the Hoosier Classic on Sunday afternoon with three rounds of singles and two rounds of doubles being played over the past three days.

Freshmen
Taylor Smith and
Femke Tjon-A-Joe each earned their first collegiate singles wins over the weekend. On Friday, Smith defeated Cincinnati's Huser in straight 6-2 sets while Tjon-A-Joe earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over her Indiana opponent on Sunday.
Senior captain
Denise Azcui also earned a singles win for the Brown & Gold to begin her final season while Bronco duo of
Katja Fevralev and
Jeryn Jack went a perfect 2-0 together this weekend to begin the year. Senior
Melina Lyubomirova and Tjon-A-Joe also earned two victories together at the tournament.
Following the Hoosier Classic, the Broncos will split and either participate in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. which is hosted by Alabama and is on Oct. 27 and 28 or play in the Bronco Hidden Duals that runs from Oct. 26-28.Â
