SAN DIEGO – Western Michigan hockey alum and former captain Scott Moldenhauer is set to start his professional hockey career after signing a contract with the American Hockey League's San Diego Gulls.
The San Diego Gulls are an affiliate of the National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks.
Moldenhauer appeared in 140 career games as a defenseman for the Brown & Gold from 2014-18. He totaled 33 points on seven goals and 26 assists. Moldenhauer helped Western Michigan to a berth in the NCAA Tournament during the 2016-17 season. That season he had a career-high 16 points on four goals and 12 assists.
He was a four-time Academic All-National Collegiate Hockey Conference selection and a three-time NCHC Distinguished Scholar. During the 2017-18 season he was also named one of three finalists for the NCHC Senior Scholar Athlete award.
