"I am bummed that we lost today but also happy that we gave ourselves a chance at the end," commented WMU head coach Shane Clipfell. "All of our conference games have been so close this season with maybe exception of one game. It is a matter of getting the breaks at the right times and getting the ball to bounce our way in these one or two possession games."

After leading for most of regulation, the Broncos took a 52-45 advantage into the fourth quarter. Redshirt senior Marley Hill gave WMU a nine-point lead early on in the quarter before the Rockets began to mount their comeback, outscoring the Broncos 17-5 to take a three-point lead with just four seconds remaining. After not playing a minute in the game, freshman shooter Kia Brooks received the inbounds pass in the corner and knocked down a three in the Rocket defender's face with less than a second to go, forcing overtime.

In overtime, Toledo controlled the tempo but Western Michigan garnered a one-point lead with 1:59 remaining off a junior Deja Wimby layup with the assist coming from freshman Jordan Walker. The Rockets responded when Jay Bravo-Harriott notched with a layup of her own.

With seven seconds remaining in the first overtime, WImby drove to the hoop off a ball screen and was fouled, converting on one-of-two free throws to give WMU a one-point advantage with four seconds. Calling a timeout, Toledo set themselves up for a last second play by its bench and converted on a layup at the buzzer to steal the victory.

Three Broncos scored in doubles figures including a team-high 23 points from Wimby. The Fort Wayne, Ind. native just missed out on her first double-double of the season as she dished out nine assists to go along with three steals and three rebounds. Junior forward Breanna Mobley added 14 points and five rebounds while Jordan Walker scored 10 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

As a team, WMU shot 48 percent in the first half and 45.6 percent for the game. The Rockets grabbed the rebound advantage, 40-36, while also dishing out 24 assists compared to the Broncos' 15. Both teams turned the ball over 15 times while WMU notched 15 points off turnovers.  Western Michigan scored 13 points off the bench with three of those coming from Brooks' clutch three at the end of the fourth.

Western Michigan remains on the road, traveling to Ball State on Wednesday, Feb. 21 with a 7 p.m. tip. The next home game for the Broncos is set for Saturday, Feb. 25, welcoming in-state rival Central Michigan inside University with tip time at 2 p.m.
