CLEVELAND – For the second time in four weeks the Mid-American Conference announced that Western Michigan men's basketball sophomore guard
Michael Flowers has been named MAC West Player of the Week.
On Sunday against UC Riverside, Flowers flirted with a triple-double, scoring a game-high 24 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The Southfield, Mich., native was 5-of-12 from the field and a staggering 12-of-13 from the free-throw line and made his final seven free-throws.
Flowers' 12 made free-throws was a career-high while attempting a career-high 13. The sophomore guard has scored in double figures in seven straight contests and leads WMU with 16.2 points per game.
His 24 points against the Highlanders marked the fifth time this season he has scored over 20. It's the second MAC West Player of the Week honor for Flowers and third for the Broncos this season.
