MUNCIE, Ind. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team fell on the road at Ball State, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Broncos (10-4, 4-2-0 MAC) outshot the Cardinals 12-9 on the day, with each team landing six shots on goal, but didn't get it past BSU keeper Tristin Stuteville. Colleen McKay had a game-high five shots, landing three on frame.
Ball State struck early, just 1:33 into the game. Peighton Cook finished off a pass from Amanda Shaw to take the early 1-0 lead.
The Cardinals pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 12th minute on a goal by Shaw. Shaw found a loose ball and put it into the upper-90 from the top of the 18-yard box.
Jenna Dombrowski later added a goal on a penalty kick in the 74th minute to finish the game off.
Western Michigan returns to the WMU Soccer Complex to host Central Michigan on Friday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. The Broncos also welcome Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. Sunday's game is Senior Day, with WMU celebrating the careers of its senior class Alyssa Burke, Paige Dobbs, McKay and Savannah Rembold.
