BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team dropped its first Mid-American Conference game on Wednesday evening at MAC East favorite Buffalo, 71-49. The Broncos snap their four-game winning streak and drop to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Due to snowy conditions in the Buffalo area, the Broncos had difficulty traveling into Wednesday night's game and were forced to spend Tuesday night in Baltimore, Md. before landing in Bull territory early this morning.
Junior
Breanna Mobley was the only Bronco player to score in double digits with 12. The game was her 11
th this season and fifth in a row that she has scored 10+ points for the Brown and Gold. Four players including Mobley,
Marley Hill,
Nina Farkic and
Jasmyn Walker all grabbed six rebounds on the night.
As a team, WMU went 19-for-26 (30.6 percent) from the field including just 14.3 percent (3-of-21) from behind the arc.
Western Michigan started slow with four turnovers in the first four minutes but redshirt senior
Marley Hill was the spark plug, notching all of her eight points for the Broncos in the first quarter. WMU gained its first lead of the night with 1:35 left in the quarter and forced the Bulls to shoot just 4-of-20 in the first 10 minutes.
The Broncos rode a 11-0 run through the second and took a seven-point lead when senior
Najee Smith started things off early with a three from the left side. The Bulls responded with a 10-2 run of their own and took the seven-point advantage into the locker room.
Buffalo rode its momentum through the second half, as WMU just couldn't come back. Junior
Logan McCane lifted the Broncos off the bench in the final 20 minutes of play, tying a career-high seven points going 3-of-6 from the floor to go along with one rebound and one assist.
The Bulls proved why they are 14
th in the nation in forcing turnovers, as WMU committed a season-high 25 turnovers that led to 23 points for UB. Defensively, the Broncos were only able to force nine turnovers but that did lead to 11 points and six fast break. Although the Brown and Gold outrebounded its opponent 51-46, the Bulls scored 44 points in the paint compared to just 24 for WMU. Â
Western Michigan stays on the road for its third MAC game of this season on Saturday, Jan. 6 at Kent State for a 4:30 p.m. tip.
