Women's Soccer Falls at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Western Michigan women's soccer team fell to Ohio State, 2-0, on the road at Jesse Owens Stadium on Friday evening.

The Buckeyes scored two goals in the second half to hand WMU its second loss of the season, scoring in the 70th and 76th minutes. Senior goalie Stephanie Heber made seven saves on the night, while the Broncos landed four of their seven shots on goal.

"The first and second halves were completely different stories," said head coach Lauren Sinacola. "We played a lot of defense against a very dynamic and talented team in the first half. At halftime we made some adjustments and our players were able to take the points at half and use them well in the second half. Losing is tough, but I believe we competed with a very strong Ohio State team tonight and we got much better for it. We are looking forward to another opportunity to compete this Sunday at Fort Wayne."

After a scoreless first half OSU's first goal came at 69:52 when Meghan Kammerdeiner finished off a cross from Nikki Walts from inside the center of the box. Minutes later at 75:31 Marissa Birzon scored off of a crsos from Izzy Rodriguez from the left-side of the net.

Kendall Juhnke led all Broncos with two shots, while Emma Kahn, Grace Labadie, Tiffany Buckler and Alex Ruffer each landed shots on goal.

WMU continues its road swing at Fort Wayne on Sunday at 1 p.m.
