Heber Sets Shutout Record as Women's Soccer Downs Wright State, 1-0, Double-OT

DAYTON, Ohio – Sophomore Grace Labadie uncorked a rocket of a free kick into the net with just 57 seconds remaining in double overtime to lift the Western Michigan women's soccer team to a 1-0 road win at Wright State on Thursday night.

The goal was the first for Labadie since transferring from Indiana. Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Heber broke the program record for career shutouts with her 27th after making five saves on the night. The Broncos outshot the Raiders 18-10 on the night and on corner kicks 5-1. WMU landed eight of its shots on goal.

A foul was called outside the box with time winding down in the second overtime. Labadie stepped up to take it and ripped the shot into the right-side of the net for the game-winner. Western Michigan had outshot WSU 6-2 in the two overtimes before the goal.

"I couldn't be more proud of how the team battled tonight," said head coach Lauren Sinacola. "In the first half Wright State really had us on our heels. The way the team started the second half and took it all the way through overtime was extremely impressive. We will take a lot out of positives from this game and continue to grow and get better going into a strong Indiana team."

Junior Colleen McKay led the Broncos with four shots on the night, followed by Emma Kahn, Hannah Kahn and Labadie each with three.

The Broncos welcome the Hoosiers on Sunday at 2 p.m. for Fill the Farm Day. Fans are encouraged to come pack the WMU Soccer Complex as WMU takes on Indiana.
