COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – All eight members of the Western Michigan hockey freshmen class have earned National Collegiate Hockey Conference Academic All-Conference honors.
Wade Allison (3.44, athletic training), Luke Bafia (3.51, business), Kale Bennett (3.95, biology), Ben Blacker (3.31, sales and business marketing), Lawton Courtnall (3.26, business), Dawson DiPietro (3.64, business), Cam Lee (3.37, criminal justice) and Hugh McGing (3.83, biomedical sciences) all earned the honors for finishing the season with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Bafia, Bennett, DiPietro and McGing were also named to the NCHC Scholar-Athlete Team for maintaining a GPA of 3.50 or higher. The class joins WMU's 16 previous Academic All-NCHC selections that were announced in February, bringing the total to 24 members of the team. Nine were also named NCHC Scholar-Athletes, giving the team 13.
