"I am happy with the way we played tonight," commented WMU head coach Shane Clipfell. "Detroit had been starting very well this season so we were focused on not having to battle from a deficit. We took their best punch in the beginning and played good basketball in the second and third quarters."

Redshirt senior Marley Hill scored 10 points on the night as the Cincinnati transfer recorded her 1,000th career point. Junior Breanna Mobley led the way for the Broncos as the forward poured in 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds (six offensive), good for her 23rd career double-double and the fourth of the season. In the back court, Deja Wimby posted another strong overall game with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.

"Both Bre and Marley are very good players and are tough to match up with," mentioned Clipfell. "Bre did a good job of converting and putting the team on her back when we called her number. Deja was her feisty self as always tonight and that is always good to see."

After a slow start from the Brown & Gold, the Broncos never relinquished the lead after taking a 10-9 advantage with 4:09 on the clock in the first quarter, while Mobley added eight of her 21 in the quarter. The Broncos shot a staggering 45 percent from the field in the second quarter to outscore the Titans 23-13 and took a 12-point lead into the break.

With a 65-40 advantage after the third, the Titans began to mount a comeback but it was too little too late for Detroit Mercy as the Broncos sealed the 12-point victory and improve to 5-5 overall.

The Broncos shot 43.6 percent in the first half and 39.5 percent for the game. WMU dominated the glass, outrebounding the Titans, 47-36, highlighted by 18 offensive rebounds. Defensively, the Broncos forced UDM to commit 20 turnovers which led to 24 points.

"Moving forward, we have to keep bottling up our fearless mentality and strive to be more consistent," added Clipfell. "The team that has the most consistency day in and day out will be the team that has the best chance to win."

WMU continues its home stand, welcoming Kentucky State on Friday, Dec. 15. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside University Arena. The Thorobreds are 2-7 overall on the season including a 0-2 record on the road.
