YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (18-25, 23-25, 14-25) loss at Eastern Michigan on Friday night.
Quiana Ware and Sydney LeMay each had eight kills on the night to lead the team, but the Broncos (14-10, 7-6 MAC) were held to a .091 hitting percentage on the night. Kathleen Reilly had a match-high 18 digs, while Mary Murphy had 11 to go along with 29 assists for a double-double.
The Eagles held WMU to a .044 hitting percentage in the first set, winning 25-18. The second set was closer with the teams trading points and neither team leading by more than two throughout the majority of the set. A block by LeMay tied it up at 21-21 and an attack-error of EMU's Cassie Haut gave the Broncos a 22-21 lead. Eastern Michigan called a timeout and then leveled the score at 22-22 after a kill by Samantha Falco. Olivia Kofie notched a kill to put the Broncos up 23-22 but the Eagles scored the next three points to finish off the set. EMU jumped out to an early 6-1 lead and ran away with the third and final set 25-14.
