KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Led by sophomore Deja Wimby's huge night, the Western Michigan women's basketball team defeated Bowling Green 75-58 at University Arena Wednesday night. The Broncos improved to 12-3 overall, 3-1 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and 6-1 at home this season.

Wimby finished with her third career double-double, scoring a career-high 20 points and dishing out 10 assists, which tied a career high. She also finished with five rebounds and a block while going 8-for-15 from the floor and 4-for-6 from the free-throw line.

"I just like being aggressive and I think that's exactly what (Coach Shane Clipfell) wants to see out of me every game." Wimby said. "Overall I thought we had a really good game as a team tonight and I really liked what we did."

The Broncos fell behind early 3-2, but went on an 8-0 run following their only deficit of the game, helping the team to a 19-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. WMU pushed the lead to double-digits on the first basket of the second quarter and never allowed the Falcons within 11 points the rest of the game. The second half the Broncos have been particularly strong this season, where they are now 10-0 when leading at halftime and 12-0 when leading after the third quarter.

Two other players scored in double-figures for WMU, as sophomore Breanna Mobley continued her strong MAC campaign with 19 points and six rebounds while tallying each a block and a steal. She also went an impressive 9-for-10 from the floor. Redshirt junior Marley Hill kept her streak alive of scoring in double-figures every game this season, recording 15 points, five rebounds and a career-high three steals. The Brown & Gold won the rebounding battle 40-34 and outshot the Falcons 49.2 to 34.5 percent while recording 20 assists on 30 made field goals.

"Bowling Green has good size all-around and that's one thing that concerned me going into tonight," Clipfell said. "I thought our kids really handled it tonight. We knew they would be very physical with their ball-screen defense but I thought we were able to take advantage of it."

WMU will hit the road for their next time out, heading to Ypsilanti, Mich., to battle cross-state rival Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 14 with game time set for 2 p.m. The Broncos will return home to face Kent State on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.
