KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan hockey team has added an exhibition game to open the 2016-17 season against the University of Toronto on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at Lawson Ice Arena.
This will be the fifth meeting between the Broncos and the Varsity Blues with WMU posting a 3-0-1 record in the exhibitions. The last meeting came in the 2014-15 season and resulted in a 2-2 tie.
Toronto went 14-20-0 last season and return its third-best point scorer in Matthew Campagna, who tallied 34 points on 12 goals and 22 assists last season.
The game pushes WMU's home game total to 19 this season, the most under head coach Andy Murray.
