Men's Tennis Hits the Road to Face Michigan State

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team, who earned the No. 69 ranking in this week's Oracle/ITA Tennis rankings, will go on the road to face Big Ten Foe Michigan State on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Noon. It was the first time this season the Broncos appeared in the poll.

The Broncos are 8-4 this season and have won four of their last five matches while the Spartans will enter at 9-5 overall and hold an 8-2 record when playing at home. Michigan State leads the all-time series 59-29 with the Broncos.

WMU is coming off a 4-0 loss to No. 31 Notre Dame on Sunday, Feb. 21 on the road. Three of the four losses on WMU's schedule have come against nationally-ranked teams.

The Brown & Gold has an overall record of 127-74 in singles play and are 43-22 this spring. Freshman Matej Svjetlicic leads the team with a 22-7 record, senior Ruben Greiner is a perfect 6-0 this spring while junior Daniel Loebel is 16-8 overall and 8-2 this spring. Junior Matt Hamilton is 15-7 overall while Andrew Cahn is 14-6.

In doubles play, the Broncos are 67-28 overall and 25-9 this spring season. The duo of Hamilton/sophomore Maik Steiner have been dominant this spring going 5-1 while they own a 17-4 overall record. The duo of Greiner/Loebel are 11-5 overall and 7-3 this spring.
