Senior wide receiver Corey Davis matched a career high with 13 catches, and had two touchdowns to give him 49 for his career, breaking the Mid-American Conference record for career TD receptions. He rang up 173 yards and now is just 19 yards shy of breaking the all-time FBS record for career receiving yards. Davis also holds the MAC records for career yards receiving.
Senior Michael Henry added six receptions for 121 yards and had a career-high reception of 65 yards for a touchdown. Junior running back Jarvion Franklin caught five passes for 71 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown in the first quarter. He also carried the ball 17 times, picking up 78 yards on the ground.
After a scoreless opening quarter, the Broncos controlled the action the rest of the way. Terrell found Davis for a 22-yard touchdown with 8:16 left in the second quarter, and then passed to Jarvion Franklin for a 20-yard touchdown with two minutes left in the half. The Broncos led 14-0 at halftime.
The Broncos padded their lead in the third quarter on Butch Hampton's 30-yard field goal and Terrell's 65-yard touchdown pass to Henry. Terrell found Davis again in the fourth quarter on a seven yard touchdown. Senior running back Fabian Johnson recorded WMU's final touchdown on a nine-run with 1:47 left to play.
WMU's offense out-gained Buffalo's 626-268. Western Michigan's defense recorded its second shutout this season. The Broncos beat Akron 41-0 on Oct. 15 for their first shutout since 2006.
Notable:
The Broncos and No. 1 Alabama are the only unbeaten teams left in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Western Michigan, which won its program-best 11th game this season, hadn't shut out two teams in the same season since 2000.
