MUNCIE, Ind. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team fell 2-0 at Ball State in Mid-American Conference action on Thursday afternoon.
The Cardinals scored a goal in each half and held the Broncos (8-5-0, 2-3-0 MAC) to eight shots on the day and keeping any from landing on goal,
Emily Scott gave BSU the 1-0 lead with a goal in the 35th minute. Sam Kambol crossed the ball into the middle of the box and Scott finished it off for her third goal of the season.
WMU picked up the pressure in the second half, firing off five total shots, but Leah Mattingly put the game away in the 79th minute on a goal off of a free kick from 30 yards away.
Western Michigan returns home on Sunday to host Miami in a rematch of the 2015 MAC Tournament Championship game. It is also "Starving Student Day" and the team will be handing out free pizza to WMU students, while supplies last.
