KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In a rematch of the 2015 Mid-American Conference Championship game, the Western Michigan women's soccer team fell to Miami, 1-0, at the WMU Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The lone goal came in the eight minute when MU's Kat Zalar ripped a shot into the side of the net after Stephanie Dillon connected with her on pass near the box.
The Broncos outshot the RedHawks 22-10 overall, including a 15-5 advantage in the second half. Miami managed to land more shots on goal, with a 6-5 edge. Senior Mazkenzie Larson made a career-high five saves in the game for Western Michigan.
Senior forward Mackenzie Barber had a game-high five shots, while landing one on goal. Fellow senior Liz Abro fired of four shots and also landed one on goal.
Western Michigan is back in action at home on Friday against Buffalo at 4 p.m. and then host Akron on Sunday at 1 p.m.
