Lukas Hafner Named NCHC Goalie of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Western Michigan senior goalie Lukas Hafner has been named Bauer National Collegiate Hockey Conference Goalie of the Week after his 35-save shutout performance in a 1-0 win at No. 12 Bowling Green.

Hafner starred in front of his home town as the game was played at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio. He kept the Falcons off the board to earn his first shutout of the season. Hafner handled the pressure well, including a third period in which he made 16 saves as BGSU outshot WMU 16-1.

The win was his fifth of the season and third against a top 15 opponent for Hafner. This is the first weekly honors of the season for the goalie.

The Broncos are back in action this weekend with a home-and-home series against No. 15/14 Notre Dame. Friday's game is at South Bend and will be televised on NBC Sports Network. Saturday's game at Lawson Ice Arena is at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
