Game Notes – Western Michigan at Georgia Southern, 9/12/2015

Pre-Game Notes

·        This is the first meeting between the two schools. It is also the first game the Broncos have played in the state of Georgia and the first school from that state of Michigan that Georgia Southern has played.

·        Georgia Southern won the toss and deferred to the second half.

First Quarter Notes

·        WMU running back Jarvion Franklin rushed for 30 yards on the Broncos' opening drive, seven more than he had in the entire game against Michigan State.

·        Andrew Haldeman connected on a 34-yard field goal to give WMU a 3-0 lead. It was his second field goal of the season and the longest of the season, so far.

·        Quarter ended 7-3, Georgia Southern.

·        Four different Broncos earned rushing yards that quarter, Franklin, Zach Terrell, Jamauri Bogan and LeVante Bellamy.

Second Quarter Notes

·        Georgia Southern's safety in was their first since 2010 against Savannah State.

·        Daniel Braverman had six receptions for 75 yards during the final scoring drive of the half, including his first touchdown of the season. He ended the first half with 11 receptions for 101 yards, two shy of tying his career-high for a game at 13 against Michigan State on Sept. 4, 2015.

Third Quarter Notes

·        GASO's Antonio Glover with three interceptions in the game.

·        Caleb Bailey with six tackles in the third quarter, a career-high.

Fourth Quarter Notes

·        Jarvion Franklin ties his career-high with this third reception of the game early in the fourth quarter.

·        Franklin now with a career-high four receptions.

·        Attendance of 23,520 is the fourth-largest in Paulson Stadium history.

·        Carrington Thompson with a 13-yard touchdown reception, the first of his career.

·        Terrell to Jeremiah Mullinax for the two-point conversion is the first two-point conversion attempt this season for the Broncos and the last successful one since a faked extra point by Alec Moulton on Nov. 22, 2014 against Central Michigan.

·        Back-to-back 10-plus tackle games for Asantay Brown.

·        Braverman ties a career-high with 13 receptions.
