KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team finished up day three of the WMU Super Challenge with a 3-2 record in singles and claimed a singles champion in freshman Melina Lyubomirova. The Broncos three-day total improved to 12-14 in the team's final action of the fall.
In Flight A singles, Lyubomirova earned a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Abbie Pahz of Louisville to claim the championship and improve her season record to 9-4. Junior Barbare Eristavi earned a 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 win over Sarah Baron of Indiana to move her record this season to 4-5. Junior Tracy Kuhle fell in the Flight B Championship to Zoe Douglas of Iowa as her record moved to 9-4. Freshman Denise Azcui earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over Aimee Tarun of Iowa to move to 6-4 while sophomore Ella Perinovic fell in the round robin singles to Carin Runefelt.
In the fall, the Broncos will finish at 48-34 in singles and 22-20 in doubles. Kuhle and Lyubomirova are both 9-4 while freshman Katja Fevralev is 8-1. In doubles, the duo of Eristavi/Lyubomirova are 4-1 while Kuhle/Olivia Myers are 3-1.
