Football Unveils Facilities Upgrades

Western Michigan football unveiled all of its facility upgrades in a video released on Wednesday.  The video showcases all of the improvements that have been made to not only the Bill Brown Alumni Football Center but to Waldo Stadium and the Donald J Seelye Athletic Center as well.

As reported on MLive earlier this spring, the renovations inside the Bill Brown Center came with a price tag of just under $2 million and were part of a nearly $3.4 million major renovation project, all through donations. Another $1.35 million was designated to artificial turf replacement at Waldo Stadium and inside the Seelye Athletic Center, projects that were completed before the start of last season.

“I wanted to make sure it represented the future of the program, but also the present and the past,” head coach P.J. Fleck said in the MLive report. “We were able to incorporate that. Everyone who ever played Bronco football, we want to make sure when they walk through they're proud of their team. It was the generous donations of a lot of people that believe in this program and believe this program can be a national program and go where it's never been.”

The video takes viewers from the top level of the facility to the under belly where the work is put in day in and day out.  It is an amazing transformation of the facilities.  One aspect of the renovations that cannot be done justice in a video or photo is the digital touchscreen kiosk in the main lobby of the BBAFC.  WMU is one of only four football programs in the nation to have a touchscreen kiosk (the others are Arizona, Iowa State and Penn State).  It allows fans to look at the history of the program, the community of Kalamazoo and WMU, the current team and more.  The kiosk is the only one of its kind to showcase a historic jersey roster, which allows anyone to choose a jersey number and see every Bronco to ever wear it.
