KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Football Writers Association of America announced it's annual Freshman All-America team on Monday afternoon. WMU is proud to boast Corey Davis on this year's squad, making him only the second Bronco to make the team in program history.
The Wheaton, Ill., native follows teammate and fellow Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year selection, Jaime Wilson, the only two members of the WMU football program to ever make the team. Wilson was named Freshman All-America as a punt returner in 2012.
Davis, who was also named Freshman All-America by College Football News, led all FBS freshmen wide receivers in receiving yards (941) and receiving yards per game (85.5 ypg). His receiving yards and five 100-yard games in 2013 were also new WMU freshman receiving records.
Davis was one of only two student-athletes to represent the MAC on this year's FWAA Freshman All-America team, joining Ohio's Tarell Bassham (DL).
The team and coach we're selected by a 10-person panel of nationally-prominent writers led by Mike Griffith of the MLive Media Group. Both true freshmen (21 players) and redshirt freshmen (seven players) were considered.
