DETROIT - Both Western Michigan and Purdue made their way to the Soundboard venue at the Motor City Hotel on Christmas Day for the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl Kickoff Luncheon.
One of the many official events associated with the LCPB, the Kickoff Lunch was hosted by bowl CEO Ken Hoffman and George Perles. Both Kathy Beauregard and head coach Bill Cubit addressed the teams after lunch was complete.
The crowd was entertained by highlight videos from both programs as well as radio calls from throughout the season from the teams' respective radio networks.
The day concluded with a night at ThunderBowl Lanes in Allen Park, Mich. The two teams bowled for about an hour and a half before a four-man competition ensued between the Broncos and Purdue.
WMU threw Dareyon Chance, Keith Dixson, James Kristof and Drew Nowak. It was no contest once Kristof toed the line as the redshirt freshman opened with four straight strikes and marked in all but two frames. Dixson earned a spot in the foursome by ending his final prep game with five consecutive strikes to bowl a 194.
Western Michigan defeated Purdue, 558-430, and hopefully that is a good sign of things to come on Tuesday afternoon at Ford Field.
