Western Michigan heads to its third postseason bowl game in the past six seasons and they will head to Detroit in style as the football equipment staff has been working hours on end to sort, separate and distribute bowl gear to student-athletes and staff.
Kenico Hines is the man in charge of making sure all of the Broncos, players, coaches, support staff and administration are representing Western Michigan at the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in style.
He works with WMU Athletics official gear partner, Adidas, as well as members of the LCPB staff to ensure timely delivery of the gear. This gear includes shirts, warm up suits, shoes, knit hats, sweatshirts, polos, etc. The LCPB also gives bowl gifts to members of each team and staff once on location as well.
Once the gear gets to the Bill Brown Alumni Football Center, it is Hines and his staff's responsibility to disseminate what goes where and to whom. He categorizes by area of athletics and then goes to work. Once complete, it is delivery time, Christmas before Christmas.
It is a very long process and one that happens behind the scenes. The student-athletes will show up on Saturday with their lockers stuffed with the apparel not knowing that it was Mr. Hines who placed it there. Much like some one else who is busy around this time of year.
Happy Holidays and Go Broncos.
