KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Western Michigan has earned multiple Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week honors in the same week for the second time this season with Jordan White and Johnnie Simon getting the nod for offensive and defensive player of the week, respectively.
White became Western Michigan's career receptions leader against Ball
State, hauling in nine catches for 172 yards and two TDs. He now holds
the record with 261 career catches with at least three more games
remaining in his career. He is now also over 1,000 yards for the season
(1,164), making him only the third Bronco receiver to have back-to-back
1,000-yard seasons in program history (Greg Jennings, Steve Neal).
White now ranks seventh in career receptions (261), 10th in career
receiving yards (3,440) and 16th in career receiving TDs (24) in MAC
history. His 17th 100-yard receiving games also tied Greg Jennings for
the career record.
White was also named the MAC Player of the Week by Rivals.com and is up for FRS WR Performance of the Year. Fans can vote by going to http://www.facebook.com/AllStarFootball.
Simon led the Broncos defensively with 10 tackles, a pass break up, two
QB Hurries and his second career interception (second of the season as
well). Simon has now registered three straight games with 10 or more
tackles and has five total in 2011.
Simon's award is the first MAC West Defensive POTW of the season for Western Michigan. This is his first career MAC West Defensive POTW award. This is White's fourth MAC West Offensive POTW nod of the season and fifth of his career.
