Pregame
- WMU is looking to win their third consecutive home opener, dating back to 2008. The Broncos defeated Northern Illinois in the 2008 home opener (29-26) and opened with a victory over Miami last season (48-26).
- The Broncos are 53-17-1 all-time in home openers at Waldo Stadium.
- This is the 19th CommUniverCity Night game at WMU. The Brown & Gold own a 15-3 record all-time on CommUniverCity Night.
- WMU is 4-1 in home openers under Bill Cubit.
- The Broncos have won ten contests in a row against Division I FCS schools since a 1996 loss against Eastern Illinois (28-20).
- This is the first meeting all-time between the two schools.
- The Broncos are 3-1 all-time against schools from Louisiana. Their last meeting with a team from the Pelican State resulted in a 27-14 victory over Louisiana Monroe on Oct. 3, 1998.
- WMU Wide Receiver Juan Nunez carries a 21-game reception streak into tonight's action.
